Spent some time back home in Mississippi between the NASGW show and the upcoming SHOT show poking around at night and caught a few interesting things:

Two 65-foot shrimp boats, F/V Dustin II and F/V St. Peter just feet off Deer Island with stern to stern with their working lights on.

I discovered an updated Stockyard Pony as made by the Harbor View in Long Beach– a great local cocktail with: Buffalo Trace Kentucky straight bourbon, Aperol aperitif liquor and St. Germain with demerara sugar and orange bitters, topped with an orange wedge– for those nights where I want something beside a neat Glenfarclas.

Also had time to drown my surplus Jack-o-Lantern in the pond out back. He became fish habitat within minutes and is undoubtedly the coolest fish house in the pond. He seems pretty chill with the whole concept, though on the outset it is a bit macabre.

I left him face up so that he could feel the rain.

I have a feeling it is going to be a cold winter.
